Choosing Fabric for Hoodies: Fleece vs French Terry

Fleece and French terry are the two fabrics behind most hoodies and sweatshirts. They look similar on the outside but are built differently.

Fleece

Fleece has a brushed, soft inside. It is warm, cosy and gives the classic heavyweight hoodie feel. It is a good choice for colder seasons.

French terry

French terry has small loops on the inside. It is lighter, breathes better and suits spring, autumn and layering pieces.

How to choose

  • Cold weather or a heavy feel: fleece
  • Lighter, more breathable pieces: French terry
  • Not sure? We can send swatches so you can feel both.
